Shaena Kate

Shaena Kate (She/They) is a movement based performer currently residing in NJ/NYC. Shaena has a great passion for performance that is experimental, character-based, and inclusive. Outside of performance, she greatly enjoys poetry, making collages, D&D, and photo/video editing.

Shaena earned her BFA in Dance at Montclair State University, Summa Cum Laude. At MSU, she performed works by Stefanie Batten Bland, Urban Bush Women, Pam Pietro, Emmanuel Phuon, and Jessie Dimauro Marks. Post college, she has continued to pursue performance getting to work with with Leigh Ann Gann, David Strobbe and The University of Dundee, The Ordinary Kids Rocky Horror Troupe, The Jerusalem Academy of Music, The Maryland Institute College of Art, and Arts By the People. She is currently training with physical theater company Blessed Unrest.

 

Her choreographic work have been shared at the Mark Morris Dance Center, MSU's DanceMakers, at the Nutley Little Theater, Modern Moves, and at the University of Dundee.

 

Shaena is also a Stage Manager and Production Assistant having worked on/with.Sleep No More NYC, Twenty Sided Tavern Dungeons and Dragons Off-Broadway, and Urban Bush Women.
