Abnegation/Dissipation is a work observing a couple experiencing a violent power struggle over one another. Meeting for the first time, the dancers become entranced and entangled in a downward spiral of emotion, causing unbalanced respect and desperate tendencies. While both seem to obsess over control, they manage to never gain enough, satisfied by hands that never touch and arms that never hold. Using discordant movement and music in relation to one another, the tension and predatory nature shifts from dancer to dancer as they choose to engage in the relationship.
